Time
The “Time” series of Colour Field acrylic paintings measuring 4 by 5 feet each was created in Montreal in 2008.
At Concordia University, Maya studied with Françoise Sullivan, the renowned Canadian painter who played a pivotal role in the Automatistes movement in Quebec during the 1940’s. Maya developed Colour Field painting in the manner of the Automatistes, seeking to create flat, non-figurative space where colour and form take centre stage.
The paintings in this series, “Yesterday”, “Today,” “Tomorrow” and “Day After Tomorrow” were exhibited in a solo exhibition in Montreal.
